Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is scheduled to make an official visit to India on September 9-10, following an invitation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This visit marks his first official visit to India since assuming the role of Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Accompanied by several UAE government Ministers and a business delegation, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed Al Nahyan is expected to engage in discussions with PM Modi covering various areas of bilateral cooperation on the first day of his visit. Afterward, he will pay a visit to President Droupadi Murmu and Rajghat to honor Mahatma Gandhi.
The subsequent day of his visit will see the Crown Prince traveling to Mumbai to participate in a Business Forum that will include business leaders from both countries. The Ministry of External Affairs stated, “The Crown Prince’s visit aims to enhance the robust India-UAE bilateral relations and explore opportunities for collaboration in new and emerging sectors.”
It is worth noting that the UAE and India maintain a significant trade relationship, with the bilateral trade volume amounting to approximately $85 billion during the fiscal year 2022-23.
Prime Minister Modi’s prior visit to the UAE in February 14 was marked by the inauguration of Abu Dhabi’s first Hindu stone temple. The ceremony, attended by spiritual leaders of the Swaminarayan sect, took place amidst devotional hymns. During the visit, PM Modi addressed the Indian community at the ‘Ahlan Modi’ event held at the Zayed Sports City Stadium and was honored with the UAE’s highest civilian award – the Order of Zayed.
In his address, PM Modi acknowledged the significant contribution of the Indian community residing in Abu Dhabi and highlighted the communal harmony symbolized by the new Hindu temple project. Built at a cost of approximately Rs 700 crore, the BAPS temple in Abu Dhabi is the first stone Hindu mandir constructed using a blend of ancient architectural techniques and modern scientific methods.
Referring to the temple, PM Modi expressed, “This temple will serve as a beacon of unity and harmony… The support extended by the UAE government during the temple’s construction is praiseworthy…”. He also praised the UAE’s endeavors, emphasizing that the temple’s existence would foster increased interactions between the populations of India and the UAE.
The upcoming visit of Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed Al Nahyan underscores the shared commitment of both nations to strengthen their bilateral ties and explore new avenues for collaboration across various sectors.
With the anticipation high for the diplomatic discussions and business engagements during the visit, stakeholders are optimistic about the prospects for further enriching the India-UAE relationship. The visit is expected to herald a new chapter in the enduring partnership between the two countries, offering promising opportunities for mutual growth and cooperation.
