Union Home Minister Amit Shah set the tone for BJP’s Assembly Elections Campaign in 2024 by addressing an election rally in Jammu on Saturday, September 6. During his two-day visit to the region, Shah released the party’s manifesto and emphasized the historic nature of the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah highlighted the significance of the upcoming elections, stating that voters in Jammu and Kashmir will have the opportunity to cast their votes under the unified Tricolour, symbolizing the unity of the nation. He reiterated that there will be only one Prime Minister elected by the entire country, emphasizing PM Modi’s leadership.
In a strong message to the Congress, Shah asserted that the BJP stands firm in protecting the reservation rights of marginalized communities in the region. He specifically called out Rahul Gandhi, stating that the BJP will not allow any interference with the reservation of communities such as Pahadi, Bakarwal, and Dalits.
Furthermore, Amit Shah criticized PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti for her promise to resume “cross-border trade” if her party comes to power. Shah emphasized that there can be no talks with Pakistan until peace is achieved in the region, addressing concerns about the potential misuse of cross-border trade profits for supporting terrorist activities.
Shah categorically rejected the idea of reinstating autonomy for Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that no power can undo the decision to revoke the region’s special status. He cautioned against misleading the public with false promises of reinstating autonomy after the elections.
Looking ahead to the elections, Shah made a bold prediction that the Congress and National Conference alliance would not be able to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir. He cited historical grievances and corruption allegations as factors that would hinder their prospects in the elections.
While BJP’s campaign initially faced challenges, including protests over candidate selection, the party managed to realign its strategy with a revised list of candidates for the upcoming elections. The election process in Jammu and Kashmir is set to unfold in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, culminating in the declaration of results on October 8.
The 2024 Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir are poised to be a crucial battleground for political parties vying for power in the region. Amit Shah’s assertive campaigning and strategic messaging reflect the BJP’s determination to secure a strong electoral mandate in the upcoming polls.
By staying true to its core values and addressing key issues facing the region, the BJP aims to consolidate its position and emerge victorious in the challenging electoral landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
