Two flash bombs were fired toward Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence in Caesarea on Saturday, landing in the garden, according to police reports. Fortunately, neither Netanyahu nor his family was present at the time, and no damage was reported.
Officials Condemn the Attack
The incident drew widespread condemnation from Israeli leaders. Defense Minister Israel Katz called the act a violation of “all red lines,” emphasizing that Netanyahu faces significant threats from external adversaries like Iran and its allies.
“It is unacceptable for the Prime Minister of Israel to face threats not only from foreign enemies but also from within the country,” Katz stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter), urging security and judicial agencies to respond swiftly.
President Isaac Herzog also condemned the attack, confirming that an investigation is underway. Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir echoed these sentiments, describing the act as a serious escalation of incitement against Netanyahu.
Security Concerns Intensify
This isn’t the first security threat targeting Netanyahu’s Caesarea residence. In October 2023, a drone was launched toward the property but caused no harm.
The attack comes amid heightened tensions in the region. To the north, Israeli forces have been engaged in ongoing exchanges of fire with Lebanon’s Hezbollah group since October 2023. No group has claimed responsibility for the flash bomb incident, leaving its origins unclear.
