In a recent development, the Delhi Police have made a significant arrest in the Gokulpuri road rage case of 2024. The incident, which involved a fatal shooting and sparked widespread concern, took place on July 31, resulting in the tragic death of a woman named Simranjeet Kaur. The accused, identified as 28-year-old Majid Choudhary, was apprehended after a brief exchange of gunfire, with law enforcement recovering a pistol and a stolen motorcycle from his possession.
Following the arrest, the Delhi Police released a statement detailing the events leading to the apprehension of Choudhary. They mentioned that the accused sustained bullet injuries to both legs during the exchange of fire with the authorities.
The law enforcement officials further disclosed that they seized a 7.65 mm pistol with ammunition and a stolen motorcycle, which was reported missing from the Old Seelampur area in Gandhi Nagar. Investigations into the case are ongoing as authorities delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the road rage incident.
The grim episode unfolded on July 31 when Heera Singh, accompanied by his wife, Simranjeet Kaur, was riding his Bullet motorcycle towards Maujpur. A confrontation ensued with another individual on a two-wheeler near the Gokulpuri Flyover as their vehicles narrowly avoided colliding. Following the altercation, the accused, whose two-wheeler had nearly collided with Singh’s, fired a fatal shot from the flyover, hitting Simranjeet Kaur in her upper chest near her neck.
Despite being rushed to GTB Hospital by her husband, Simranjeet Kaur tragically succumbed to her injuries upon arrival, leaving her family and the community in mourning.
The tragic incident prompted the authorities to register a murder case under the relevant sections, leading to a swift investigation fueled by the urgency to bring the perpetrator to justice. Throughout the inquiry, the police diligently combed through CCTV footage in the surrounding area to identify the assailant, ultimately culminating in the arrest of Majid Choudhary.
