The Lebanese health ministry reported that Israeli airstrikes on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of at least 20 people and injuries to 13 others in Lebanon’s Mount Lebanon region. The strikes, part of escalating violence between Israel and the Iran-aligned Hezbollah group, targeted multiple areas in a significant daytime assault.
Casualties in Joun and Baalchmay Areas
The deadliest strike occurred in Joun, a town in the Chouf district, where 12 people were killed, and eight were injured. Another airstrike in Baalchmay, also in Mount Lebanon, claimed eight lives and left five injured, according to Lebanese health officials.
Heightened Conflict with Hezbollah-Controlled Areas
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified, with Israel carrying out one of its largest daytime air assaults on Beirut’s southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold. Fighting continues as Israeli forces target locations in Lebanon associated with Hezbollah, marking a peak in the ongoing regional tension.
These developments highlight the growing humanitarian impact of the conflict, with both civilian lives and infrastructure increasingly affected by the violence.
