Suspect Arrested in Raleigh After Three-Day Shooting Spree on Interstate 40

Police in Raleigh, North Carolina, have arrested 23-year-old Andrew Thomas Graney in connection with a series of random shootings that targeted vehicles and a home over a three-day period this week. Graney faces multiple charges, including one count of assault and 11 counts of shooting into occupied vehicles or residences.

Court Appearance and Charges

Graney appeared before a judge in Wake County on Friday and is currently held without bail, according to court records. A public defender has been assigned to his case but has yet to make a public statement. Police accuse Graney of using a .45-caliber handgun to shoot at 11 vehicles and one home along or near Interstate 40 on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, which left one person injured.

Arrest and Investigation Details

Graney was apprehended on Thursday near his residence, police reported. Another individual was detained at the time but later released without charges. Local news outlet WTVD, citing North Carolina State University, reported that Graney is a senior anthropology major at the university in Raleigh.

Authorities continue to investigate the motives behind the shootings, which have raised safety concerns in the Raleigh community.
